Edith  (Bijas) Simoneau
  
Edith "Eydie" (Bijas) Simoneau, 61, of Cromwell, beloved wife of Gary A. Simoneau, passed away peacefully Wednesday evening, August 18th at Hartford Hospital. Born in Maurage, Belgium, she was the daughter of Joseph and Irene (Warton) Bijas of Kensington.
Eydie came to the United States with her parents in October of 1953, settling in New Britain. On August 19, 1972, Eydie and Gary were married and spent 38 wonderful years together. Eydie's loves were cooking, especially for her family, planting flowers, planning and taking vacations, and taking care of her cats, Mac and Jezabel.
Besides her loving husband and parents, she is survived by her children, Michael G. Simoneau of Cromwell and Nicole I. Manno and her husband, Jack of Astoria, NY; her brother, Jan Bijas and his girlfriend, Cindy Adriano of Aiken, SC; sisters-in-law, Jeanie Simoneau and Cheryl Simoneau; brothers-in-law, Marty Simoneau and his wife, Carol, David Simoneau and his wife, Terry as well as many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 21st from the Cromwell Funeral Home, 506 Main Street, Cromwell at 9:00am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am at St. John Church, 5 St. John Court, Cromwell with the Rev. Mark L. Curesky officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Park in Rocky Hill.
Friends may call on Friday evening from 5:00 to 8:00pm at the funeral home and in lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Eydie's memory to the American Cancer Society, 825 Brook Street, I-91 Tech Ctr., Rocky Hill, CT 06067-3045.
