Thomas Michael Valencia, 46, of Cromwell, passed away on Monday, January 25th at Hartford Hospital surrounded by his family after a long illness. Born in Hartford, he was the beloved son of Margaret P. V. Lassen of Cromwell and the late Robert P. Valencia.
For many years, Thomas found great satisfaction working with the developmentally disabled for the State of Connecticut and for private agencies.
Besides his mother, he leaves two cherished daughters, Nicole T. Valencia and her mother, Karen Judd Valencia of Wake Forrest, NC and Isabel M. Valencia and her mother, Melanie Johnston of Cromwell; five sisters, Mary Valencia of Portland, Anne Valencia and her husband, William DeRose of Portland, Theresa Valencia of Cromwell, Irene I. Marquis and her husband, Richard of Cromwell, and Christine V. Whitney and her husband, John of Cromwell; and two brothers, Lawrence M. Valencia and his wife, Patricia of Wyoming, RI and Daniel R. Valencia of Washington, DC. Thomas also leaves a large and loving extended family.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 29th from the Cromwell Funeral Home, 506 Main Street, Cromwell at 9:00am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am at St. John Church, 5 St. John Court, Cromwell with the Rev. Mitchell Sawicki officiating. Burial will follow in Center Cemetery in Newington.
