Joseph Carmen DeMaio, Jr., 84, of Middletown, beloved husband of Josephine (Perricone) DeMaio for 60 years, passed away on Wednesday, January 20th at home surrounded by his family. Born in Bronx, NY, he was the son of the late Joseph and Jennie (Mastrobuono) DeMaio. Joseph lived in South Windsor for over 50 years before moving to Middletown and was a member of St. Patrick-St. Anthony Church in Hartford. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the US Army, graduated Manhattan College in NY and was an award-winning national accounts manager for Magnetic Analysis in Mount Vernon, NY. Joseph was active in civic affairs in South Windsor, was an avid poker player, Yankee and Giants fan, a pool shark and enjoyed bowling. He was a great friend to all and loved spoiling his grandchildren. Besides his wife, he is survived by four sons, Steven J. DeMaio of Belize, Robert E. DeMaio and his wife, Ann of Chaplin, Joseph S. DeMaio, III of Middletown and Eugene R. DeMaio and his wife, Michelle of Willington; a daughter-in-law, Susan Gilleaudeau of Cheshire; a sister, Madeline Mancuso of Amawalk, NY and five grandchildren, Jocelyn, Mark and his wife Sarah, Jessica, Justin, and Kristina. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, January 25th at 10:00am at St. Francis of Assissi Church, 10 Elm Street, Middletown with the Rev. Andrew Giardino officiating. Interment will follow in the State Veterans Cemetery in Middletown with full military honors. Friends may call on Sunday afternoon from 2:00 to 4:00pm and Sunday evening from 6:00 to 8:00pm at the Doolittle Funeral Home, 14 Old Church Street, Middletown.
