Phyllis Jean (Moore) Bengtson, August 20, 1935 - February 1, 2017, passed away peacefully in the care of Water's Edge in Middletown. Phyllis was born in Dayton, Ohio and was the daughter of her late step-father, Carl Bennett and mother, Evangeline (Snyder) Bennett of West Carrolton, Ohio.

Phyllis graduated from Fairmont High School in Kettering, Ohio. She worked at National Cash Register (NCR) in Dayton, Ohio, and then transferred to Middletown in the late fifties where she met her loving husband of 48 years, the late Warren L. Bengtson. They raised two sons alongside of family and friends. Phyllis was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Middletown.

Phyllis was always smiling and had a love for creativity. During her early days in Dayton, she would spend hours at the Dayton Art Institute painting and studying techniques. In her later years in Connecticut, she was often found in the kitchen making Swedish meatballs from scratch, knitting beautiful gifts or sewing quilts with women from her church.

Phyllis is survived by her son, Keith A. Bengtson and his wife Lynn of Carlisle, OH; her brother, Charles E. Crume and his wife Bonnie of Oakridge, TN; daughter-in-law, Kimberly Lambert Bengtson of Berlin; three grandchildren Nicholas, Anders and Kelsey; with Honorable Mention to Matt Scarrozza of Middletown; and a host of family and friends.

Besides her parents, Phyllis was predeceased by her husband, Warren Leroy Bengtson and son, Kevin Carl Bengtson.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 8th at 10:00 am at Faith Lutheran Church in Middletown. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.

Family and friends may call on Tuesday evening, February 7th at Faith Lutheran Church from 5:00 to 7:00 pm.
